Early life
Luke Macfarlane was born on 19 January 1980 in London, Ontario, to Thomas and Penny Macfarlane. Thomas Macfarlane was the Director of Student Health Services at the University of Western Ontario, and Penny worked as a mental health nurse at a hospital in London, Ontario.
Macfarlane has two siblings: a twin sister named Ruth Macfarlane and an older sister, Rebecca Macfarlane. The siblings attended London Central Secondary School before Macfarlane enrolled at the Lester B. Pearson School for the Arts and the Julliard School in New York City, where he studied Drama.
Career
Luke Macfarlane always wanted to be an actor, so he decided pretty early on in his life that he would pursue his interests. He trained himself in acting and singing and then moved to New York to chase his dreams.
After graduating from Julliard, Macfarlane joined the theatre and began going for auditions to secure roles in Hollywood to launch his acting career.
Macfarlane started his career in theatre with the plays “Juvenilia” and “Where Do We Live” in 2003 and early 2004. He made his film debut in the 2004 biographical film “Kinsey” as Bruce Kinsey.
For his TV debut, he played Stuart DeBarge in the critically acclaimed 2004 comedy miniseries “Tanner on Tanner”.
