The Federal Government has on Tuesday opened a lawsuit against Isah Hamman Misau, the Senator representing Bauchi Central in the National Assembly, for allegedly making “injurious falsehood”.
The lawsuit, which was filed at the Federal Court Abuja, is the latest development in the saga between the Senator and the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris. Recall also that the Senator had in a submission to the Senate alleged that the IGP contravene the Police Act by engaging in sexual relationships with serving officers of the force and even got married to one them simply identified as Asta. Asta’s family had also threatened a lawsuit for character defamation.
Misau has been at loggerheads with Idris who he accused, among others, of engaging in corrupt practices. The police boss had also described Misau as a deserter, who is wanted by the Police.
In the seven-count charge filed yesterday, the Senator is accused of submitting false documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in 2011 and 2015, according to the Daily Post.
In the charge sheet, Misau was accused of presenting false information in the following documents: “personal particulars of persons seeking election to the office/membership of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (INEC Form C. F. 001/2011),” and a similar document for 2015 election (INEC Form C. F. 2015).
