FIFA Women’s World Cup tour: Trophy set to land in Abuja Nigeria

The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup is set to kick off in about four months, and we are pretty excited. Ahead of the tournament, the trophy is currently on a world tour, and it is billed to make a stop in Abuja on April 11.

The tour, which was launched in France yesterday, will see the trophy arrive in the 24 countries that qualified for the competition this year. According to FIFA, the tour will give football fans a chance to see the coveted prize up close and take photos with it.

Like when the Russia 2018 trophy arrived in Nigeria, the Women’s World Cup trophy will likely find its way to the Presidential Villa, where the president will be expected to lift it as a sign of encouragement to the Super Falcons. From there, it’ll then be displayed for the fans.

Nigeria has always qualified for the Women’s World Cup since the inception of the tournament in 1991. So, we’re hoping that bringing the trophy to the country will somehow inspire the Super Falcons to win this edition and bring it home.
