Serena Williams has been fined $10,000 (£7,988) for damaging one of the Wimbledon courts with her racket.
The damage was said to have occurred during a pre-tournament practice on 30th June by the seven-time Wimbledon’s ladies’ single winner. It is said that All England Club, the organisers of Wimbledon Tournament are very protective of their turf and do not take kindly to any kind damage.
However, the GOAT, who is chasing her 24th Gland Slam title, isn’t letting that slow her down as she has powered into the semi-finals of the tournament with a win over fellow American Alison Riske in an intensely fought match, winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Serena will be facing either Britain’s Johanna Konta or Czech Barbora Strycova in the semi-final.
Other players to have fallen foul of the All England Club rules are Italy’s Fabio Fognini and Australia’s Bernard Tomic, Nick Kyrgios, Uruguay’s Pablo Cuevas and Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus.
