Edinson Cavani will miss featuring for his new club Manchester United when they face Newcastle in their next Premier League game due to the UK’s quarantine rules but will be available to face former side Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Cavani, who arrived on deadline day on a free transfer to Manchester United, will still be self-isolating when the club travels to Newcastle on 17 October.
The new Man United’s number 7 could, however, feature against PSG - his former club - in Paris three days later.
The only issue with that would be the fact that the 33-year-old may not be deemed fit as he is unable to train with his new team-mates until the quarantine is over.
Under current coronavirus guidelines in England, Edinson Cavani who has been a free agent, which means he hasn’t been part of an elite sport ‘bubble’ recently that would have exempted him from the 14-day quarantine required for people arriving from France, would have to undergo the quarantine process.
He was one of four deadline day signings for United as the club also completed deals for Alex Telles, Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo.
Cavani would be a United player till the end of the current campaign after signing a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months. He is expected to provide stiff competition for United’s current first-choice striker, Anthony Martial.
