If you lived in ancient Egypt, you probably would have joined the amorous Egyptian women in using crocodile dung as a contraceptive.
According to Daily Mail, crocodile dung was the earliest contraceptive device for women. It is a concoction made of crocodile dung, honey, and sodium carbonate inserted into the vagina to block and kill sperm.

It’s not quite as strange as it sounds: honey is an anti-bacterial so if there are any bugs in the crocodile dung, the honey is likely to guard against infection.
