The Carabao Cup semi-finals will see Manchester United welcome Manchester City to Old Trafford while Championship side Brentford travel to Tottenham.
The semis will see two separate derbies, the Manchester Derby in one tie and the London derby in the other tie, with Brentford going to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for their first-ever major semi-final.
The semi-finals won’t have the traditional two-legged affairs this time but instead, it will be played over just one match, in the week commencing January 4.
The final has also been pushed back from its scheduled February 28 date to a later date at Wembley on April 25.
The EFL said: “It is the objective of the League to stage the final with as many supporters in attendance as possible and the decision has therefore been taken to move the final from its original date.”
The last five finals of the Carabao Cup have been won between the Manchester clubs, with United’s 3-2 win over Southampton in 2017 interrupting a run of City dominance.
