Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has come out to talk about her inclusion into the Oscars Academy as a voting member.

Recall that Omotola Jalade Ekeinde was recently inducted alongside 927 other people into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as a voting member.

In an interview with Power lunch, the actress and producer noted that it is was a surprising privilege. She said: “It feels amazing to be invited to become a member of the academy and becoming a voting member.

In a push to boost diversity, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde was announced as one of the new members invited to join the group behind the Oscars Academy. The actress, alongside Nigerian filmmaker Femi Odugbemi, a 14-year-old actress Quvenzhané Wallis, 86-year-old Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina and 924 other people were invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science.

The new members of the Academy in 2018 are from 59 different countries. This year’s invitees marks the academy’s largest and most diverse class ever.
