Eddie Murphy to return to Saturday Night Live for the first time in 35 years

Hollywood actor and comedian Eddie Murphy will be hosting NBC’s Saturday Night Live (SNL) for the first time in 35 years.

The SNL is an American late-night live television variety that premiered on NBC on 11 October 1975. The show is a comedy, which often parodies contemporary culture and politics, performed by a large and varying cast of repertory and newer cast members. Each episode is hosted by a celebrity guest, who usually delivers the opening monologue and performs in sketches with the cast.

SNL made the announcement on Monday via a Twitter message.

In addition to Eddie Murphy, some of the hosts that will be featuring in the next season of the show include Christie Stewart Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift and others

Eddie Murphy will host the 21 December season finale 35 years after he left the show in 1984. He has not been back since. He was 19 when he first appeared on SNL in 1980 before leaving to pursue a successful movie career.
