The singer, who has been in the music industry for close to two decades, we believe, knows the nitty-gritty. He is, therefore, overly qualified to speak on the matter given his pedigree.

Speaking with the Guardian, the multi-award winning artist on the point of staying relevant in the industry says:
“I think there are a couple of things that combine to make that happen. It’s the way you treat and deal with people. You have to keep bringing out fresh stuff and keeping in touch with the times. You just have to keep working and know that you haven’t arrived. You just have to keep working because if you don’t do all these things you will just be stuck at one time and you will be forgotten over time.”
Asked what is the key to sustaining a rewarding career as a musician in Nigeria?
He answers: “The key is to not lead a fake life, know your limits and know your priorities. If you make money, you save, invest, leave those things (fake life) because you’re not going to have rosy times all through. You also can’t depend on just one source of income.”
The legend has spoken. It boils down to human relationship and creativity. It also involves being real and making (hopefully wise) financial investments as well as spreading the tentacles of one’s income.
We think 2Baba’s advice is as good as better than many we have read about and could apply to any career for that matter.
