David Rooklin was among the three Chemistry grad students (along with Ashley Modell and Joseph Katigbak) who won 1st place in the Technology Division of NYU’s 2015-2016 $200K Entrepreneurs Challenge. According to the school’s website, the team would get $75,000 to support their startup, which is now a company named Redesign Science.
Rooklin’s team beat 231 teams made up of more than 800 entrants from 16 schools to the prize. They had eight months of intensive training and four rounds of judging before the grand final.
The company, Redesign Science, specializes in virtual molecular design and focuses on disease-related protein-protein interactions. It uses a newly-developed molecular modelling platform, AlphaSpace, to carry out its mission.
Rooklin’s startup partners with key players in Biotech and Pharmaceutical fields to develop drug design that solves issues in new therapeutics.
