Dre, who has produced hit songs for Eminem, Tupac, and Snoop Dogg will be honoured at a ceremony four days before the official Grammys ceremony.
The Recording Academy announced on Friday, 1 November that the Rock & Roll star will be honoured by its Producers and Engineers Wing.
“Dr. Dre is an influential force in music,” said Deborah Dugan, President/CEO of the Recording Academy, in a press release. “Dre breaks boundaries and inspires music creators across every genre. His evolution as a producer solidifies him as a leader of the pack within our industry, and we watch in amazement as he continues to shape the future of music.”
Dr. Dre has won six Grammys, three of which he won as a producer or engineer. Dre became popular as part of the Compton group, N.W.A.
He has also gone on to produce award-winning songs for Eminem, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, Eve, Jay-Z, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Xzibit, The Game, and many more.
