She was initially intimidated by the portfolios of working models she saw when she browsed through different agencies websites. However, Ponton took the advice and she went to Miami Swim Week where she got to meet some brands. Many of the people asked her under which agency she worked. This was the final affirmation she needed, and she took the next step.
“That cemented my decision to give [modelling] a shot, so I snapped some photos of myself, which was a very casual process,” she explained.
Her submissions went to agencies based in Miami because she wanted to be close to her home in Florida. Before long, Wilhelmina Models reached out to her and showed interest in working with her. During this time, she was still in high school and she had to travel during the spring break for some test shots and eventually booked a job under the company early in 2020.
