Nengi Biography: Early life and education

Nengi was born in January 1998 as Rebecca Nengi Hampson and she is 22 years old as at the time of writing. While we could not determine where she was born, we can confirm that she is an indigene of Bayelsa State.

Likely, Nengi may have been born in Bayelsa State, which is the Southernmost part of Nigeria. The state is sandwiched between Delta State and Rivers State. The main language spoken in Bayelsa is Ijaw although there are several other dialects such as; Kolukuma, Mein, Bomu, Nembe, Epie-Atisa, and Ogbia.

Nengi was still a child when she lost her mother and father according to DNB Stories. She allegedly left home at the age of 15 to live alone, take charge of her life and forge a path. This may be after she had completed her secondary school education.

Before getting the opportunity to participate in the Big Brother Naija or BBNaija TV reality show, Nengi had tried to make a career for herself in entertainment and show business. She was chasing modelling gigs.

Her biggest break came in 2017 when she was just 19 years old. Nengi participated in the Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria (MBGN) pageant in 2017 representing Bayelsa State. This pageant is organised by the Silverbird Group with the main purpose of sending representatives to international competitions.

While Nengi did not win the crown (Ugochi Ihezue, Miss Kebbi State won the title), she finished in the top five as the fourth runner-up. Additionally, she did not go home empty-handed; Nengi won the Best Evening Wear category at the pageant.

She started her journey in the contest in a strong fashion, emerging as the first Head of House. Nengi had picked Wathoni, a fellow housemate as her deputy. It was after her regime that Biggie started mandating Head of House to pick a member of the opposite gender.

Nengi is one of the most beautiful housemates on the Big Brother Naija or BBNaija season 5 edition. She has many fans outside the house who love her and she is also involved in a ‘relationship’ of sorts with another male housemate, Ozo.

While Ozo has been clearly chasing a romantic relationship with Nengi, she has been reluctant, on the other hand. She once explained to him a relationship between them was unlikely because he was ‘too peaceful’.

During the BBNaija Season 5 show as well, Nengi had fought with fellow housemate, Kaisha. It had been one of the most serious clashes and had almost resulted in them coming to blows. She and Lucy had also had their quarrel and traded insults as well.

Nengi controversy

After her fight with Lucy, Nengi was involved in a controversy where popular stylist Toyin Lawani called her out. According to Lawani, in 2018, Nengi was dating Lord Trigg, the father of her child at the time. She said that Nengi had taken Trigg’s phone to write insults about her, claimed that she (Toyin) went for cosmetic surgery when she had gone for a ‘fibroid surgery & breast lump removal’.

Nengi Biography: Personal life

While Nengi is not married, the ex-beauty pageant contestant revealed that she has a boyfriend outside the house. This is likely another factor while she has not committed to a relationship with fellow housemates.

GH Gossip blog claims that the boyfriend she is talking about is a white guy. However, after her fight with Lucy, popular fashion entrepreneur, Toyin Lawani, had alleged that Nengi was involved with Lord Trigg but she did not say whether or not they are still together.
