Early life and education
Cody Fern was born on 6th July 1988 in Southern Cross, Western Australia, a small town with about 700 citizens. He grew up with his parents and siblings, of whom very little is known. He attended a boarding school called Merredin Senior High School. Afterwards, he went to the Curtin University of Technology, where he bagged a degree in Commerce.
He wanted to be an actor from a tender age but was unsure of the path since he didn’t know anywhere except the town where he grew up and thought leaving would be impossible.
Career
Fern had initially considered a career in finance before pursuing acting. According to an interview with Anthem Magazine, he hated his life while working in finance. He said, “This is not what I want my life to be. But I’m here, and I’m doing it, and I’m trying to fit in.” The Cate Blanchett-starring movie dilogy “Elizabeth” and “Elizabeth: The Golden Age” made him want to become an actor.
When he was 22 years old, Cody chose to leave his job and a promising career in finance to pursue his dream career in acting. Shortly after quitting, he joined a local theatre group. Fern starred in the recurring role of Michael Langdon, the sinister offspring of a human and a ghost, considered to be the bringer of the End of Days. He is the son of Vivien Harmon and the spirit of Tate Langdon, making him the living Antichrist. Eighteen months after the apocalypse, Langdon presents himself at Outpost 3, claiming to come in the name of the Cooperative. He reveals to the group of survivors that all other outposts have fallen and that his mission is to select which residents deserve to be truly saved and sent to the Sanctuary, a mysterious place where people would be able to survive for decades. However, he refuses to reveal how the survivors will be selected. Cody appeared in all 10 episodes of the season.
