Twitter to remove likes and retweets in new app Twttr

Twitter is preparing to make significant changes as part of its mission to increase “friendliness” and ‘promote the health of conversations’.

It’s new prototype app, called “Twttr”, is Twitter but designed to hide engagement counts such as retweets and likes. It has also removed the heart icon, the retweet icon, as well as the reply button.

This is CEO Jack Dorsey’s year-long emphasis on what he calls civility. Among the other changes being weighed by the social media app is an update that would allow users to swipe directly into the timeline and into the app’s camera function. Users could then customise multimedia tweets with coloured text and location-generated hashtags in the same screen.
