Tunisian Court Jails Couple For 'Hugging In A Car'.

A couple in Tunisia have been handed jail sentences on the charge of ‘public indecency’ and ;intimidating the police’. The couple had denied the charge that they had been caught kissing by the police who went a step further to accuse them of having sex in their car as one of the officers testified that they were caught naked in the car.

The woman had broken down in tears after the Judge read her sentence of two months for ‘indecency’ while the man who was French and could not understand the judgment that was given in Arabic was given a four-month prison term for additionally trying to intimidate the police.

The trial had earlier caused an uproar and bitter reactions from the world at large after the court had handed them stiffer judgments in their first trial on October 4 before they were represented by fourteen defence attorneys out of which many were working for free to get the couple acquitted.
