The lawmakers intending to meet with the President yesterday turned back at the gate as the dinner gets rescheduled.

It was reported that there were some trouble at the gate and the details remained sketchy until the apology from President Muhammadu Buhari helped clear some of the false stories.

Yesterday, according to a news item on The Guardian, the Senate president Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara had a lead a procession of lawmakers to the Presidential Villa for a meeting but encountered resistance at the Pilot Gate.

The Department of State Service (DSS) operatives refused to grant access to the procession as only Saraki and Dogara were let in because they had gate passes and personal recognition or recommendation from the Senate President was not enough to gain them admission.

The others who were then asked to submit to a thorough search before being granted entry saw this as an affront and decided to leave.

The president met with Saraki and Dogara and Osibanjo, and must have learned of the incident from them which led to a rescheduling of the meeting until October 31 and apologized for the embarrassment.
