It’s once less worry for indigenes of Osun State living in Lagos wishing spend some time back home during the festive season.
The government of Rauf Aregbesola is providing them with free train services to and from the state capital during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Why, with the on going fuel scarcity and hike in transportation fare, Osun State government’s decision to continue with its tradition of providing free transportation to indigenes during festive periods is surely a welcomed one.
Aregbesola began the tradition in 2011 and has maintained it during Christmas, New Year, Eid-el-Kabir and Eid-el-Fitri celebrations. This, however will be the last Christmas and New Year free train ride he will offer as governor. His his two-term tenure of eight years will end in November 2018.
A statement issued by the state Commissioner for Industry, Commerce and Co-operative, Ismail Adekunle Jayeoba-Alagbada, says the free train ride is in line with the administration of Rauf Aregbesola, the state governor’s yearly practice of facilitating convenient movement of its citizens in and out of the state during festive seasons.
