The executive director of the National Film and Video Censors Board, Mr Adedayo Thomas, has advised youths against watching and sharing pornographic, violent and other unwholesome video content on the internet.
Thomas gave his advice, on Monday, at a capacity building on film classification and rating for youths in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State. Over 200 youths, including young filmmakers, were trained by officials of the board as ‘Community Ambassadors’ of the NFVCB against unclassified films and harmful video contents.
According to Thomas, his advice is necessitated because of the ease youths can obtain and share digital content. He wants young people to shun content that can impact negatively on their moral.
On the role of the board, the executive director notes that the NFVCB is empowered by the law to fight harmful content and to stop anyone from harming the future of young people. The executive director also called on parents and guardians to ensure they monitor what their children watch.
