Hauptmann was convicted of bigamy, forgery and unsworn falsification to authorities as he married the daughter of his wife without going through the legal processes of divorcing the wife.
According to Reuters, the presiding judge gave Hauptmann a prison term ranging from one year minus a day to two years minus a day.

It was also reported that Hauptmann had used a fake name “Christopher Buckley” on some of his documents.
Hauptmann wed his wife, Deitrich in 2015, and then went further to marry Deitrich’s daughter in 2016 without having first divorced Deitrich. The daughter was 18 at the time of the incident.
Hauptmann is now prohibited from contacting Deitrich but is reportedly still married to Durovick.
