Lawyer Says EFCC Is Yet To Pay Whistle-Blower's 5% Entitlement.

Blowing whistles might be a very prosperous job for referees but when you become an official whistle blower for the EFCC, some things are not sure, like when you will receive your pay. The ‘young man’ who became popular without anyone knowing his name for his own safety is learning.

A statement yesterday (Thursday) that was attributed to the acting Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, by the EFCC spokesman is that the ‘young man’ who gave the information to the agency that led to the recovery of the N13bn in Ikoyi, Lagos, had already become a billionaire and that the agency were counseling him because he had never encountered such a huge sum that the 5% represented and they wanted nothing to happen to him.

Just in case you were wondering, 5% of N13bn is N650m, yes; you should get a whistle too.

However, today (Friday), a lawyer who claimed to be representing the ‘young man’ contradicted the story. Yakubu Galadima said that his client is yet to receive any money from the agency and that the story of an ongoing counseling was a lie, because he was definite that at the moment the EFCC could not even locate his client.

The lawyer went on to say, in Lagos State High Court, that he has on behalf of his client written to the President and also to Ibrahim Magu himself about the fake stories that were circulating but he got no reply from both of them.
