Folasade Ogunsola is the first female acting Vice Chancellor in UNILAG history

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has elected a new acting Vice Chancellor, Folasade Ogunsola, who is the first woman to occupy the role.
After the previous Vice Chancellor, Oluwatoyin Ogundipe was removed from his position by the school’s governing council, a series of protests erupted in UNILAG that put the school in the news.
While Ogundipe is working to challenge his removal, Folasade Ogunsola will work in his stead in a temporary capacity.
According to Punch, Ogunsola secured 135 of 167 votes to secure the position. She is also well accomplished and is a graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) medical school.

She has also received a master’s degree in Medical Microbiology from the University of Lagos, as well as a PhD from the University of Cardiff.
According to her biography on the World Health Organization, Ogunsola was a founding member of the Nigerian Society for Infection Control in 1998 and is a member of the Global Infection Prevention and Control Network.
