The Federal Government has declared Thursday, 29 October as a public holiday in order to celebrate Eid-el Maolud.

The Eid-el Maolud is a special day for some Muslims to celebrate the birthday of the prophet Muhammad (SAW).

This was announced by the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola who congratulated Muslims both at home in the diaspora, for witnessing this year’s celebration.

He enjoined them to imbibe “the spirit of love, patience and perseverance which are the virtues of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him),” adding that doing so would guarantee peace and security in the country.
