Coronavirus Nigeria update: 593 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Nigeria

The number of cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria continues to rise as the National Centre for Coronavirus (NCDC) continues to release more updates. 

The NCDC has shared more updates on the state of Coronavirus. This is done nightly on their verified Twitter account in order to keep Nigerians abreast on the state of COVID-19 caused by Coronavirus in Nigeria.

According to the most recent updates, which was released on 19 August, Nigeria has now recorded 593 more cases of Coronavirus.

This is the highest number recorded in a while as the cases were previously on a downward slope, prompting some states to begin reopening.

According to the new update, Plateau has recorded the highest number of new cases with 186 new cases, ahead of Lagos State which recorded 172 new cases.

Abuja comes next with 62 new cases, followed by Oyo State with 27 new cases. This brings the total number of cases recorded in Nigeria to 50,488 with 985 people, unfortunately, succumbing to the pandemic.
