Indian actress Priyanka Chopra invests in Bumble as the service prepares to expand into India this year.
Bumble’s expansion comes amid growing safety concerns for women to feel safe using dating apps in India.
Bumble is testing a new feature in India that allows female users to send the first message to a match. The company said it wants women to feel safe and comfortable.
“I’ve always believed that investing in women is key to social transformation and economic growth,” Chopra said. “Women want love, they want friendship and they want to find a career, and that’s the uniqueness of what Bumble delivers,” she added.

“A new chapter for me! I am so excited to partner with Bumble and Holberton School as an investor. I’m honoured to join two companies that strive to expand gender diversity in the tech space, and make a social impact for the greater good… let’s do this,” Priyanka tweeted.
Chopra joins a list of celebrities pushing into tech. Ashton Kutcher has invested in various companies including AirBnb and Spotify, while Leonardo DiCaprio, Beyonce and Tyra Banks are among others who have reportedly backed tech ventures.
