The student identified as Miss Chidubem Nwankwo sustained severe injuries on falling to the concrete floor below, according to the Nations. She has been taken to the hospital for treatment.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 6.00pm on December 16, 2017. It appeared Chidubem had jumped off the storey building believing there was no help to put out the fire. She said that smoke from the fire was choking, making it difficult to breathe, hence her decision to jump off to save her life.
Meanwhile, the Nations reports that the school’s management has not responded to requests for comment. Thankfully, a member of the federal house of representatives representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency Ossy Prestige has visited the student, promising to pay her medical bill.
Furthermore, it is reported that Chidubem is responding to treatment and would soon resume normal activities.
