The plot depicts the story of a geeky game-lover in search of love after his perfect younger brother plans to get married. However, according to a traditional family ideology by their mother, the elder brother has to be the first in line to get married, which pinpoints the movie’s title.

The Order of Things attracted mixed receives from critics calling out the weakness of the plot and how it tried to portray a Hollywood-esque storyline. However, if you would like to be the judge yourself, the movie is currently still showing in cinemas.

7- A True Blue June

Over time we have seen political-themed drama come out of Nollywood, movies like Love is War {2019} and 4th Republic {2019} are some movies that have explored the theme of political ambitions.

On June 24th, 2022, A True Blue June hits cinemas. The political drama tells the story of a philanthropist and politician, Ayomide Kashoro, aspiring to become a governor. In contrast, the political climate prepares to transit from military to civilian rule.

With Austin Butler in the lead role, the movie also stars Tom Hanks, Olivia DeJonge, Helen Thomson, Richard Roxburgh, Dacre Montgomery, Lean Ford, and more.

5- Rise

Filmmaker and director Akin Omotoso directs Rise, a Walt Disney Studios production. The movie is an American biopic sports-drama film written by Arash Amel.

Rise centers on the true-life story of the Antetokounmpo family, who emigrated to the United States and later became professional basketballers within the National Basketball Association.

The movie portrays the theme of emigration in a new light; while Rise is not a Nollywood movie, Nigerians have, over time, made movies that center on traveling out of the country.

For instance, Osoufia in London is an example of a movie with the narrative of emigrating out of the country; the movie has been followed up with other movies with similar traits. However, these films are mostly just funny and nothing more.

But, Rise is a very nuanced movie by a Nigerian filmmaker.

The film is streaming on Disney+and stars Uche Agada, Ral Agada, and Jaden Osimuwa in the role of the Anteokounmpo brothers, Nigerian-born American actress Yetide Badaki and Nigerian-American actor Dayo Okeniyi.

4- The Man From Toronto

Netflix’s June movie line-up includes the one-hour-long action-comedy, The Man from Toronto, which stars Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson in the lead role.

Kevin Hart plays the character of Teddy, who is a loser and incompetent in doing most things. He soon gets caught in a case of mistaken identity, which leads him to work with a very dangerous assassin.

The Man From Toronto stars Kevin Hart, Woody Harrelson, Jasmine Mathews, Kaley Cuoco, Pierson Fode, and Ellen Barkin.

3- Hustle

Hustle is another June line-up movie from Netflix. In Hustle, American actor Adam Sandler plays the role of an NBA scout. He discovers a new raw and talented player in Spain and prepares him for the NBA draft.

As the plot fully unravels, the two faces challenges, but they are both determined to beat against all odds.

Alongside Adam Sandler, Hustle features appearances from Queen Latifah, Ben Foster, Juancho Hernangomez, Robert Duvall, and Jordan Hull.

The movie also sees the appearances of numerous current and former NBA players and coaches who played the role of themselves or other characters.

Seth Curry, Shaquille O’Neal, Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris, Kyle Lowry, Dave Iverson, and more.

2-Breaded Life.

Breaded Life was first released in cinema 2021, but this month the Nollywood drama is now available on Netflix. In May, during the annual Africa Magic Viewer Choice Awards {AMVCA}, actress Bimbo Ademoye who played the character of Todowede, lost the “best actress award category” to Osas Ighodaro.

In all honesty, this writer believes Bimbo Ademoye was robbed of the award given how her character in Breaded Life had so much dept.

In the movie, Timini Egbuson plays the character of a spoilt rich child; his mother, Tina Mba, wants him to be more responsible. Things soon take a complete turn when he becomes unrecognizable by his family and friends.

This leaves him to start a life with a bread hawker, Todowede {Bimbo Ademoye} who is the only person who recognizes him. The story unravels further as he has to navigate a new, unfamiliar life with Todowede.

Breaded Life touches on the theme of love, family, and redemption.

1-Glamour Girls.

Glamour Girls is the third remake of a Nollywood movie by filmmaker Charles Okpaleke. It is a remake of the 1994 movie of the same title.

In the new Glamour Girls, it tells the story of a pimp, Donna played by {Nse Ikpe Etim}, and three other young women, Emmanuella {Sharon Ooja}, Hell {Segilola Ogidan} and Louise {Toke Makinwa}.

Helmed by Netflix, Glamour Girls takes on the trajectory of Chief Daddy 2: Going Broke with nothing to offer except luxury and aesthetics.

If you are wondering why this movie is number one on our list, the film was very much anticipated despite how disappointing the remake turned out to be. It will be best to watch Glamour Girls without any huge expectations.
