Mortal Kombat star Lewis Tan gets to show his substance in upcoming films

Lewis Tan will appear in the lead roles of three upcoming films, “Quantum Spy”, “Wu Assassins: Fistful of Vengeance”, and “About Fate”. With the growing lineup, he is on his way to becoming one of the biggest faces of film in the next couple of years.

Tan had started as a stunt man behind scenes of productions such as “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift”, “Olympus Has Fallen”, and “24”. Gradually, he started getting screen time on the “CSI: Miami” TV series as Aiko Okanagi and “NCIS: Los Angeles” as Hiro Yakuza.

As a martial art actor

His skill as a martial artist gave him important roles that required fighting and stunts; cue in the character of Chen in the 2016 “Rush Hour” series and then as Zhou Cheng in 2017 Marvel’s “Iron Fist” series. Then came the role of Gaius Chau in the AMC hit series “Into the Badlands” and Shatterstar in “Deadpool 2”. By this time, it was clear that Lewis Tan could interpret these roles perfectly.

To further prove his mantle, he outperformed almost every other cast of Netflix’s “Wu Assassins” when it came to combat scenes.

But he is more than a martial artist, despite this being his most prominent attribute as his film roles as shown. The theatre-trained actor gets the opportunity to show his range in “About fate“, a romantic comedy film where he stars opposite Emma Roberts.

It is vital that Lewis Tan totally kills it in this film because he also has to reprise his stereotyped action roles in other upcoming projects: “Quantum Spy,” a TV series and “Wu Assassins: Fistful of Vengeance,” a film spinoff of the series by the same name. In these roles, we are sure he will perform excellently.

He will begin shooting for “About Fate” in June 2021, and the film could ready by late 2022 or early 2023. Lewis Tan fans can’t wait to see him star in something other than stunt and martial arts films. If the universe favours him, he may even get a role in a historical drama to add to improve his one-dimensional catalogue.
