Low turn out at the Anambra Central senatorial election rerun

As announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Anambra central senatorial rerun holds today, but so far turnout in all the seven local government areas of Anambra state involved have been poor.

In some polling units, electoral officers were seen sitting idle as a result of low turnout by voters, with an INEC official reportedly saying they will the centre until official closing time for the elections, according to the Daily Post.

14 candidates are vying for the senatorial seat, which became vacant following the nullification of the election of the PDP candidate Mrs Uche Ekwunife, who was returned in 2015 as Senator for the zone.

  9. People are already tired of them all. They’ll drop their manifestos promising paradise for those who votes for them, then after being voting in successfully, they’ll forget those promises. People are tired.
