World Cup match day 8 recap: Crotia shock Argentina, France victorious

The fixture ended 3-0 in favour of Croatia with the first goal coming thanks to a Willy Caballero error.

The Argentine team ended up having a bad game with their main man Messi unable to make any impact throughout the whole game. Croatia on the other hand, showed a lot of creativity with their midfield powered by the likes of Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic

Modric made it 2-0 later in the second half and Rakitic sealed the deal for the Croatians with a late goal.

The Argentine defense was just nowhere to be found in the late stages of the game. Argentina are now on the verge of elimination from the world cup, they will have to beat Nigeria and hope for some good fortune to qualify for the knockout stages.

The France Vs Peru game ended with only one goal between them. 19-year-old Kylian Mbappe registered his name in the history book when he became the youngest ever French player to score in a football World Cup tournament.

Peru’s loss means that they will see an early exit as France progress to the round of 16.

Australia vs Denmark saw an early Chrisitan Eriksen goal that made it seem like the Denmark team was going to have a flawless victory, but a VAR penalty ruling in favour of Australia brought the game to a draw as Jedinak managed to put the spot kick away.

Both teams had a lot of chances after that but none seemed to be able to claim the lead.
