Is that Johnny Depp in "Pirate of the Caribbean" and "Sea of Thieves" game crossover?

Fans are curious as to whether it is Johnny Depp voicing Captain Jack Sparrow in “Pirate of the Caribbean” and “Sea of Thieves” game crossover.

In what Xbox has described as an ‘ultimate crossover’, Rare’s “Sea of Thieves” game gets an expansion with Disney’s “Pirate of the Caribbean” franchise in what will be called “Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life Trailer”.

According to Comic Book, this is not a separate game but an expansion of an already existing game. Rare released “Sea of Thieves” in 2018 through Xbox Game Studios. Since then, it has gained fame in the gaming world.

After winning several awards including, the 17th British Academy Games Awards in March 2021, the developers are ready to take things to the next level. Already, it is an adventure game based on pirates. It only makes sense that the next direction is to embrace the “Pirate of the Caribbean” franchise.

The trailer shows that Johnny Depp’s character, Captain Jack Sparrow, will be the central game character. It is still not clear if Depp is the one doing the voice acting or if it is a computer-generated programme made to closely copy his voice.

Given that the actor seems to have cleared his name in the matter relating to his former partner Amber Heard, Disney and Xbox may have brought him on board to work on the game. If they did, revealing this information will sell the game more than withholding this detail.

However, Walt Disney is still not shifting its stance on the future of the “Pirate of the Caribbean” franchise. It has revealed that Johnny Depp’s journey as Jack Sparrow has ended.

Regardless, faithful “Sea of Thieves” players will enjoy the new characters, environments, and adventures that “Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life Trailer” brings. The game will launch on 22 June 2021.
