One week after its release, Bella Shmurda’s latest single “World” finds a place among the most played songs in Nigeria. The song got a lot of positive reviews when it was released but it only managed to find a spot on Apple Music Top 100 (Nigeria) daily chart last week.
On the socially conscious single titled “World”, Shmurda took aim at almost every group of people with past colonial masters and religious leaders getting a tongue-lashing from the Gen Z hit-maker.
UrbanAfro singer Tobechukwu Victor Okoh, known as Peruzzi, impressed the most this week on Apple Music top ten Nigerian songs chart finishing with two slots. His single with Davido titled “Somebody Baby” went six positions up while “God Forbid”, off his new album “Rum and Boogie”, made its chart debut as well.
Cheque’s “History” featuring Fireboy DML also debuted on the Apple Music chart. Below, you can see how the most-played Nigerian songs ranked today, 12 April 2021:
OPPO mobile phone brand and Seyi Vibez both got their songs, “Dance” and “Bad Type” respectively, on the Audiomack top ten chart this week.
OPPO mobile phone brand got DMW singer Mayorkun and Rasaki Music Group boss L.A.X together on a new song titled “Dance”
The Android phone makers got DMW singer Mayorkun and Rasaki Music Group boss L.A.X together on the trendy Afropop song. The company used the song to launch their brand new flagship device Reno5 F. Meanwhile, new school act Seyi Vibez was completely in charge of the vocals of his charting single.
Bella Shmurda got two singles on the chart as well with “World” debuting at number 2 and his months-old single “Rush” finishing at number 7. Joeboy returned to the chart with his single “Focus”, and four songs from last week’s chart dropped off. See the complete ranking here:
Nigerian singer MrOlaide gets a slot on Boomplay this week for his single “Forgive”. The singer previously released singles such as “Ire” in 2019 and “Tell Me” in 2020. This is the first time MrOlaide would appear on Boomplay’s Nigeria top ten songs of the week chart and it is a huge win for the singer.
Steve Crown “Hosanna” debuts on Boomplay
Closing out the chart instead is Steve Crown’s “Hosanna” — a new gospel song from the Nigerian artist who had become famous after his hit song “You are Great” dominated airwaves in 2015.
Here is our complete Bomplay top ten Nigerian songs chart for this week:
It is refreshing to see Naira Marley’s “Coming” finally knock off Omah Lay’s “Godly” from the summit of Boomplay’s chart. The track had been sitting at the top since the weeks following its 2020 release.
Boomplay also shows that gospel songs are returning to popularity on streaming platforms. Besides Steve Crown’s “Hosanna” we also see Nathaniel Bassey’s “Hallelujah Challenge Praise Medley” just two spots outside from the Boomplay Nigerian songs weekly top ten chart.
