OnlyFans is reversing its planned ban on sexually explicit content a week after announcing that investors and payment platforms had forced its hand.
OnlyFans became popular because it provides a subscription service that allows content creators sale their content, including (and especially) sexually explicit content and adult images.
A few days ago, the London-based company announced that come October 2021, no sexually explicit material will be allowed on their site. According to its official statement, the announcement is in response to concerns from banks and other financial services companies that enable transactions on the subscription service.
However, on Wednesday, 25 August 2021, OnlyFans recanted. This time, the announcement was what the fans of the website have been itching to hear. According to the new announcement, the website will continue allowing adult content, which is a large part of its business, after all.
“We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change. OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators,” OnlyFans said.
