National Park Service Blocks Installation Of Statue Of Naked Woman.

Activists had been looking forward to installing a 45-feet statue of a woman in a Yoga pose known as ‘mountain’  on the National Mall turf for a long time after the statue called ‘R-Evolution’ was first exhibited at the Burning Man festival in Nevada back in 2015.

The statue was set to be installed as the gathering in Washington was set to happen, the gathering which is called Catharsis on the Mall is said to celebrate and bring about social change.

They were surprised when Mr. Obernesser on Wednesday sent them a letter that stated that the earlier approval for mounting the statue for 91 days had been given in error and is therefore revoked. The Mall’s Spokesman, Michael Litterst, also said that the cancellation came as result of the statue going over the minimum height requirement as he provided the New York Times with documents that reveal that no statue mounted near the Mall should exceed 45-feet and though the statue is exactly that, it is to be placed on a base that is 2 feet and makes it above the height requirement.

However, the group had been bitter about the development because according to them, they received no earlier indication that the mounting was to be called off and the had spent thousands of dollars on finishing the preparation for it. They also stated that it was only after the media started reporting on the proposed project and the rise of public response that the Service decided to disqualify the installation.

The artist who designed the statue, Marco Cochrane, said that the statement the ‘R-Evolution’ will have standing in front of the National Mall will be a powerful statement in favor of every woman in the world.
