West African country Cote D’Ivore has officially been announced as the host of the 2023 AFCON championship.

Cote D’Ivoire was originally scheduled to host the 2021 tournament, but that was changed after Cameroon was asked instead. Cameroon have since been stripped off the privilege over a delay in the preparation for the tournament.

According to Goal, the Federation of Ivorian Football (FIF) accepted the 2023 hosting rights after CAF president Ahmad Ahmad met Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara.
