However, that is not all that is happening, as, in addition to these problems, Nigerians now have to take up arms to defend themselves against an upsurge of robberies in Lagos and Ogun states.
The restriction of movement has had a massive effect on how society operates and has resulted in robbers coming out en masse to rob people of their valuables. They also allegedly rape women and kill people while they are at it.
Due to the increase in these robberies, residents of the communities have been forced to come out and take up arms in order to defend themselves.
In the last six days, social media users have lamented how the robbers visit at night and sometimes in broad daylight and dispossess residents of cash, phones, foodstuff, and other belongings.

Where is @PoliceNG in all this #LagosUnrest & #OgunUnrest? Why should citizens have to resort to self help? This is when govt should leverage military to clamp down on this, not to bully & kill citizens for lockdown. This is why we need Àmòtékùn, but Lagos & Ogun politicized it. pic.twitter.com/dZW8KgITpz

I'm worried about civilians who turn to vigilante by force in a bit to protect themselves and their family. Most of them are with cutlass. What if the armed robbers come with guns and start firing at them ??? ??#LagosUnrest pic.twitter.com/71A1EaWLdZ
