Jade Osiberu's Sugar Rush returns to the cinemas

The National Film Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has granted the film the approval to continue being screened at cinemas nationwide.

Recall that last week, the film was banned from the cinemas after it was declared that its temporary approval had expired.

NFVCB executive director, Adedayo Thomas took the blame for the situation, admitting that he did not give the film its final approval because he was busy with other films.

Jade Osiberu also released a statement following the ban of the film from the cinemas, and fans of the film protested with the hashtag, #BringSugarRushBack.

Now, the film is back, with NFVCB making an announcement on their official Twitter page, sharing the news.

1. The past week has been eventful for us as an organization with diverse speculations in the media on the perceived ban of Sugar Rush movie at the cinemas while we were still doing our due diligence on the movie for final approval.

Jade Osiberu also took to her Instagram page to share news of the film’s return. She wrote:

“We got such an outpouring of love in the last week, I couldn’t respond to all the calls and messages but your kind words and prayers were very encouraging *love* Thank you soo much everyone.

“Thanks in particular to @alhadedayothomas and the @nfvcb for helping to get us back on the big screen and for the unwavering support of the industry.
