Jade Osiberu’s Sugar Rush has been banned from cinemas, with fans of the film using #BringBackSugarRush to protest online.

The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) ordered the ban of the film which was released in the cinemas on Christmas day and stars Bimbo Ademoye, Bisola Aiyeola, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Tobi Bakre, Omoni Oboli, and Williams Uchemba.

In a statement, however, the NFVCB Executive Director, Adedayo Thomas explained that it was only the temporary approval for the movie that expired.

Thomas also explained that it is his fault that the movie was not given a permanent approval as he was busy with the multitudes of films that needed approvals also.

Jade Osiberu also took to social media to thank fans of the movie and to share her hopes that the issue regarding the movie ban will be resolved quickly.
