Nigerian’s team captain to the IAAF World Athletics Championships London 2017 qualifies for the finals of the Women’s Long Jump event.
Ighoteguonor, who won silver during the 2015 edition of the event in Beijing China, clocked a 6.51m mark to place second place in her group’s qualifying stage. Overall, she placed 8th place of the 30th athletes that yesterday competed for a place in the final. This will be her third appearance in the final of the event.
The Women’s long jump final comes up on Friday 11th August at 19:10 hours.
Meanwhile, Ese Brume the second Nigerian athlete that competed in the Long Jump did not qualify for the final. Brume clocked 6.36 during the qualifying stage. Interesting her jump was increasing all through the three attempts allowed: 6.16m 6.29m and 6.36m respectively. Still, they were well below her personal best of 6.83m but at age 21, we hope to see more of her in the future.
