A woman who posted a $100,000 bail back in February for R. Kelly won’t be getting her cash back, at least for now.

According to several US news outlets, Valencia Love, a friend of R. Kelly, had posted the bond after the embattled RnB singer was charged with 10 counts of sexual abuse crimes in Cook County for alleged crimes related to at least three minors that took place between 1998 and 2010.

However, since then more charges including two federal charges on sex trafficking and child pornography have also been brought against R. Kelly. The singer’s current bail is fixed at $1m and he has also been denied bail on two different occasions.

Love made the request through her attorney, John Collins, who filed for a request for a refund of the bail amount last week per the Vibe. However, Cook County Judge Lawrence Flood ruled against the request on Tuesday, 17th September during a status hearing for the state crimes.

Collins had argued that there have been material changes in cases involving R. Kelly, which his client had no knowledge about and that R. Kelly is a man of “vast resources”.

There’s been a substantial change of circumstances. In this instance, he’s held no bond, so the purposes of the bond are frustrated in Illinois.

There’s no need to have her money sitting in a deposit.

Reports say that Love was warned at the time of posting the bond that she may lose the money even if R. Kelly meets all the conditions for his bail application. It is not unknown for judges to order for bail money to be used to pay for attorney’s fees, court costs, fines or other expenses, according to USA Today.

Meanwhile, a request by Cook County prosecutors to raise the singer’s bail above $1m was rejected by Judge Flood.

The request is seen as symbolic R. Kelly had been ordered detained by judges in federal courts in Chicago and New York. While Judge Flood denied the request, he says he may revisit the issue of Kelly’s bond if circumstances change in the federal cases.

Kelly has been locked up in a federal detention centre in Chicago since July, when he was indicted on two sets of federal crimes, including child pornography, sex-trafficking and obstruction of justice, in Illinois and in New York.
