Early in August, we had a post about a self-acclaimed doctor by the name of Joro Olumofin, who claims that “it’s time for ladies to have a “CONTINGENCY BOYFRIEND”.
This means that he is encouraging ladies to have a guy by the side with whom they can tie the knot with if the current one misbehaves. While this is for the ladies, no doubt, the guys are not left out either. Most of our guys thinks it’s ok to have a backup girlfriend (side chick) that fills the void if anything happens. The word is “just in case”.
Permit me to say this, having a backup girlfriend or boyfriend while dating is the same as cheating. In fact, it is blatant cheating and there are no two words about it.
The intent, no matter how noble or self-helpful, does not justify the act. If you think that your current girlfriend or boyfriend does not fit in or may not be a perfect fit later in life, why date him/her? If you think your backup boyfriend or girlfriend is the one you will finally end up with, why suffer the other person in the picture?
Things like double-dating and keeping another partner on the side can be coated with all sorts of trendy names and rubbish excuses, but it still does not make it right. The truth remains that, you are cheating on your partner by keeping another partner elsewhere.
