Watch the trailer for Roye Okupe's animated action film, Malika: Warrior Queen, staring Adesua Etomi, Blossom Chukwujekwu

The wait is over for the animated pilot for Malika: Warrior Queen as the producers have announced the completion of the pilot project with a trailer release.

The action-packed animated film was partly crowdfunded raising $20,555 from 314 backers on Kickstarter at the time of writing.

Malika tells the story of a Warrior Queen in a historical fantasy epic set in 15-century West Africa.

The animation stars of our Nollywood faves including Adesua Etomi-Wellington as Malika, Femi Branch, Deyemi Okanlowon, Sambasa Nzeribe, and Blossom Chukwujekwu.

Malika was directed by Roye Okupe and produced by Anthill Studios with Niyi Akinmolayan partly executive producing.

Sharing the news of the release on Twitter, Niyi Akinmolaya writes:

“I present to you the long-awaited trailer for Malika, Warrior Queen. I don’t need to tell you how much time and dedication went into making this film. It’s been one of the most challenging projects we’ve ever attempted as a studio. Hope you love it as much as we enjoyed making it.”

Supporters of the project on Kickstarted will get to watch the animated film starting Thursday.

The animation is also scheduled to screen at the 8th annual Lagos Comic Convention and at the 6th annual MECCAcon holding in Detroit, US.
