Newly available court records have revealed that “Umbrella Academy” star actor Elliot Page has filed for divorce from his wife, Emma Portner.
The 33-year-old actor who recently came out as transgender filed for a contested divorce on Tuesday 26 January in a Manhattan Supreme Court.
“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce following our separation last summer,” the pair said in a joint statement.
“We have the utmost respect for each other and remain close friends.”
Portner, 26, a professional dancer and choreographer, had publicly supported Page’s coming out last year, saying she was “so proud.”

“Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world,” Portner said in an Instagram post on 1 December 2020.
“I also ask for patience & privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day. Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much.”
The divorce comes three years after the pair married in January 2018. Page and Portner both Canadian-born have been very public about their love for each other.
Page who came out as gay in February 2014 said in the more recent announcement: “I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self.”
