UEFA Women's Champions League: PSG scores late winner in dramatic encounter to end Arsenal's chase

Paris Saint-Germain women’s team ended the dream of their Arsenal counterpart in the competition after a late goal secured a 2-1 quarter-final triumph for them.

Beth Mead’s had scored for the Gunners to cancel out an early PSG strike, but Signe Bruun grabbed a late winner in the one-legged tie in San Sebastian.

Paris Saint Germain took the lead as early as in the 15th minute of the match when France’s Marie-Antoinette Katoto got away from Leah Williamson during a corner and volleyed home at the near post.

Kim Little, however, should have equalised within two minutes for the Arsenal side when she was found by Noelle Maritz with a cut-back pass but she clipped her shot wide.

Arsenal did get back on level terms before the stroke of half-time when Little played the ball through to England forward Beth Mead on the edge of the box.

Mead looked slightly offside but with no VAR at the match, the goal stood, the forward cutting inside and curling a superb shot inside the far post.

PSG then had an opportunity of their own to go back in front midway through the second half when Kadidiatou Diani was played through on goal, but Arsenal’s goalkeeper Manuela Zinsbergerher saved the finish from Diani with her feet.

But with 14 minutes left to play, Bruun, who came on as a substitute after a long injury layout, got on the end of Katoto’s cross to bundle in the winner.

The PSG side will face another french side Lyon who triumphed 2-1 over Bayern Munich in the other quarter-final match of the day.
