Super Falcons’ player and star of Pensacola FC, Uchenna Kanu, has been named the 2019 Most Outstanding Player in the US’ Women’s Premier Soccer League.
The league association tweeted the honour, writing:
“Congratulations to the 2019 #WPSLChampionship Most Outstanding Player, presented by @GoalFiveSoccer
… Uchenna Kanu!”
Kanu joined her club Pensacola FC in 2018 and last season scored nine goals in six appearances. She was instrumental in yesterday’s American women’s championship final. Pensacola had also played in the finals of women’s championship last year although they lost then.
However, the ladies got another shot to rewrite their history of the championship as they whip Utah Royals Reserves 4-3 after extra-time in Sunday’s American women’s championship final. Kanu scored one of those goals.
The win means Pensacola FC are the Women’s Premier Soccer League champions for the first time since 2012.
Congratulations to Kanu and to Pensacola FC.
