Four time Grammy winning artist Tracy Chapman has filed legal documents against Nicki Minaj. The documents claim that Minaj stole her hit song Baby Can I Hold You.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Chapman claims Minaj used “half of the lyrics and vocal melody” of the 1988 hit to make her track Sorry. Minaj made multiple requests to license Chapman’s song and all were refused.

The day the song was released, Nicki Minaj tweeted “Sis said no”, which according to the lawsuit, references the fact that Chapman refused to grant Minaj the rights to use the song.
Despite removing the song from her new album Queen, Sorry was still being played on the radio. Chapman is asking for damages and also asking that the song not be released again.
