Originally known as Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the Walt Disney Company, commonly known as Walt Disney or simply Disney was founded on this day in 1923 by 2 brothers – Walt and Roy Disney.
According to D23, the founders shared space with a real estate office for some time before moving next door to rent a whole store. The company grew and in 1926, a proper studio was built in Hyperion Avenue in Hollywood

2. In 1951, the first prime minister of Pakistan was assassinated
The first Prime Minister of Pakistan (an office created during partition, not elected), Liaquat Ali Khan, was assassinated by Saad Akbar Babrak, an Afghan. Khan spent 4 years, 2 months and 2 days in office.

On this day in 1951, Khan was shot twice during a public meeting of the Muslim City League at Company Bagh after which the police shot the presumed assassin immediately. Khan was rushed to a hospital and given a blood transfusion, but he succumbed to his injuries. The exact motive behind the assassination has never been fully revealed and a lot of speculation exists about it.
3. In 2011, a 100 years old man becomes the oldest person to run a marathon
Fauja Singh, a one-hundred-year-old British man, became the oldest marathon runner after completing a race in Toronto, Canada. Singh ran for over 8 hours 25 minutes and 16 seconds and he finished as the 3,850th person before 5 other competitors.
