Taylor Swift reveals her mother has a brain tumour while being treated for breast cancer

In a recent interview with Variety, the singer spoke about her mother’s cancer diagnosis, going further to reveal that her mother was also diagnosed with a brain tumour.

As a result, the singer is limiting her tour for her latest album, ‘Lover’. ‘Lover’ is the first album that Swift completely own after leaving her former record label, Big Machine Records.

During the same interview, Swift revealed that the latest diagnosis came as she was filming the documentary about her life, titled ‘Miss Americana’.

She said: “While she was going through treatment, they found a brain tumor. And the symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumor is nothing like what we’ve ever been through with her cancer before. So it’s just been a really hard time for us as a family.”

She will still go on tour, but only within the US while only performing at concerts in Europe and Glastonbury.

She went further to say: “But I also wanted to be able to work as much as I can handle right now, with everything that’s going on at home. And I wanted to figure out a way that I could do both those things.

“Everyone loves their mom; everyone’s got an important mom. But for me, she’s really the guiding force. Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first. So obviously it was a really big deal to ever speak about her illness.” 

Swift first spoke about her mother’s diagnosis in March 2019 in an essay she wrote for Elle Magazine. She revealed that both of her parents have had cancer, but her mother’s had returned.
