Embattled music star R. Kelly has reportedly been dropped by his record label, according to reports.

Variety News reports that the singer’s name was removed from the label’s website on Friday, 18th January. The decision was allegedly reached silently to avoid legal issues.

The R&B legend was originally signed to Jive records at the start of his career but moved with the label when it got acquired by Sony BMG.

A docuseries was aired earlier this year in which some women alleged that the singer had abused them and was running a sex cult. Subsequently, musicians Lady Gaga and Celine Dion promised to take down their collaboration with him from streaming platforms.
